Boulton Advisory Chartered Accountants

John Boulton FCA

Principal

John founded Boulton Advisory to bridge the gap between public policy and regulation and the practical evidence needed to implement change.

Before establishing Boulton Advisory, he was Policy Director at ICAEW. His work ranged from business policy, regulation and sustainability to corporate reporting and audit. He worked with boards, member networks and external partners to turn technical evidence and member insight into positions that could be used with government, regulators and other decision-makers.

John trained at PwC and earlier in his career held operating finance roles. As a Director at Fitch Ratings in the immediate post-financial crisis period, he analysed banks and accounting policy, publishing research on financial reporting, prudential regulation and credit risk.

John has worked extensively with professional bodies, regulators and business organisations in the UK and internationally. His experience includes policy development, governance, senior stakeholder engagement, professional training and helping organisations respond to periods of significant regulatory or economic change.

Boulton Advisory was created to help clients understand difficult issues, test the evidence, and expand their choices.

John is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds an ICAEW practising certificate. Boulton Advisory Ltd is a firm of Chartered Accountants and an ICAEW member firm.
